Michael Madsen, best known for his role as Budd in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films, has died at 67. His manager confirmed the cause of death as cardiac arrest, following his discovery at his Los Angeles home on Thursday.
Madsen’s long and prolific career saw him collaborate with some of Hollywood’s biggest names, consistently delivering memorable performances as tough, often morally ambiguous characters. Beyond Tarantino, his credits include Donnie Brasco, Thelma & Louise, and Die Another Day.
Tributes have poured in from family and colleagues, highlighting his unique personality and significant talent. His sister, Virginia Madsen, described him as “a poet disguised as an outlaw,” a testament to his complex artistic nature.
At the time of his passing, Madsen was actively involved in new independent film projects and was preparing to release his book of poetry. His distinct screen presence and extensive body of work will be remembered and celebrated.
