Hotel Okura Breaks from Tradition with 58-Room Hakone Resort Featuring Private Onsens in Every Room

by admin477351

HAKONE, JAPAN – Hotel Okura is rethinking the traditional hot spring experience with the announcement of Okura Resort Hakone Gora, set to open in 2029. The brand’s first domestic resort eliminates shared bathing altogether—each of its 58 rooms will feature a private outdoor onsen.

Fed by authentic Owakudani thermal waters, the in-room baths allow guests to soak on their own schedule, day or night. The move addresses one of the most common pain points of conventional hot spring resorts.

The resort’s “Forest Hideaway” design by Gwenael Nicolas blends natural materials with modern luxury, creating a serene retreat in Hakone’s mountainous landscape. Guests can also expect high-end teppanyaki dining and the attentive service synonymous with Hotel Okura.

The project positions Hotel Okura as a key innovator in Japan’s evolving luxury travel market.
