‘Now is the Time to be Wednesday’: Fans Urged to Rebuild Club

A powerful call to arms, “Now is the time to be Wednesday,” has been issued by the Supporters Trust to the club’s fanbase. The plea comes after Sheffield Wednesday entered administration, a move that ousts owner Dejphon Chansiri but results in a 12-point deduction, leaving the club on -6 points.

The trust, which had organised boycotts, said the “phase of resistance” is over and the “phase of renewal” must begin. “The club’s most urgent need is stability and income,” the trust stated, urging fans to buy tickets and merchandise to help “rebuild from the ground up.”

The administration was the “inevitable outcome” of Chansiri’s “financial mismanagement,” which includes a $pounds{}$1 million tax bill and months of unpaid wages. This led to a “bittersweet” day for fans, who are “overjoyed” at his exit but devastated by the penalty.

Administrator Begbies Traynor is now in charge, seeking a “swift sale” of the club and stadium. They met with manager Henrik Pedersen and “emotional” staff on Friday.

Pedersen remains defiant, stating he has “a big belief we can survive” despite the 15-point gap to safety. “We have to be a new Sheffield Wednesday with an old heart,” he said.
