During a recent meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between China and India, urging both nations to build on the positive momentum in their bilateral relationship. Meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Wang highlighted the need for increased high-level exchanges and expanded collaboration in areas such as trade, media, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
Wang Yi advocated for managing sensitive issues through dialogue and encouraged closer coordination on both regional and international platforms. He emphasized that China and India should work together to advance multipolarity and champion the interests of developing countries. Additionally, Wang reiterated China’s support for India as it hosts this year’s BRICS summit, calling for enhanced cooperation within the expanded BRICS framework.
In response, Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar affirmed India’s dedication to fostering a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He reiterated India’s longstanding positions on issues related to Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), affirming respect for China’s sovereignty in these areas.
The discussions between Wang Yi and Jaishankar underscore ongoing efforts by both nations to stabilize their ties and deepen cooperation. This comes in the wake of recent improvements in bilateral relations, illustrating a commitment from both sides to strengthen their partnership through constructive engagement and dialogue.
