China has called on India to adhere to existing border agreements and collaborate to ensure peace and stability along their disputed border. This appeal comes amid reports of renewed tensions between the two nations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized Beijing’s commitment to the agreements and understandings previously established with India. He explained that China’s routine patrols and border management activities are part of efforts to protect its territorial sovereignty and maintain stability in the border regions.
The situation follows recent reports of tensions along the China-India border, with an Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson noting that such incidents arise when Chinese troops deviate from established patrolling patterns. Despite these occurrences, Guo highlighted that both countries are maintaining open lines of communication through diplomatic and military channels to address these issues.
Guo urged India to work with China to implement the mutual understandings and take practical measures to prevent further tensions. He underscored the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the border as both nations strive to manage their territorial disputes through dialogue and established communication mechanisms.
